Audi Quattro: The Gripping Innovation That Never Loses Traction

One of the benefits of driving a premium car is the exquisite engineering. One feature that makes Audi models unique is their quattro all-wheel drive system. Instead of using a transfer case, this AWD platform uses a torque-sensing differential to route power between the front and rear axles, whichever has the most grip, to prevent a loss of grip before it happens.

Today, quattro is in its sixth iteration, and works better than ever. The latest version now uses a crown-gear differential in place of the Torsen one, which sends torque 40/60 front to back in normal driving. Yet as needed, it can also supply the front axles with 70 percent, and the rear with 85 percent. This new differential also enables electronic torque and brake vectoring between wheels. When accelerating or cornering, quattro can supply finite quantities of additional power or braking force, keeping you in control at all times.

But superlative wet-weather grip is but one area the quattro system excels. Performance, daily driving, and efficiency are all affected. Better yet, quattro is just one of the exciting technologies found on our new Audi lineup! Contact our Monroeville, PA location to learn more about what’s in store.
